Yvonne H. (Surette) Allain

Yvonne H. (Surette) Allain 85 of Marlborough passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 in Marlborough Hospital.

Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Guy Allain in July 2024.       

She was born in New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Ernest and Meline (Leblanc) Surette.

Yvonne is survived by her son Peter Allain of Marlborough, her daughter, Dora Defelice and her husband Daniel of Watertown, 3 grandchildren, Mark Angela and Cameron, her daughter-in-law, Meagan Allain, 3 brothers, Paul Surette, Emery Surette and Louis Surette all of Canada as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

She was also predeceased by her son Michael Allain in 2022, 3 sisters, Bernadette Bourdages, Cecile Cormier, Jeannine Jacob and 2 brothers, Laurie Surette and Omer Surette

Over the last few years Yvonne had spent her time peacefully rocking in the shade at all the family reunions, laughing at family stories, & enjoying the music. Yvonne was an amazing mom to her three children Peter, Dora, and Mike. She was the special kind of mom that made sure everyone around her was safe and fed, the mom who despite having 3 children of her own took in any others who showed up. Never really knowing how many teens were playing in her house at any time but there was always a place at her table for them.

As a Grandmother to Mark, Angela and Cameron, to say that her parenting style eased up is putting it mildly, Whatever her grandkids wanted was fine, More chocolate? Sure! SpongeBob on the tv? Staying up late? No problem! Laughter came easily to her just as life did, she took everything in stride to the very end with a tender strength that was her secret, a strength everyone in her family knew they could rely on. She will be so deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 4-6 pm in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough, MA
