Thomas “Bumpa” F. Brecken Jr. aka Duct Tape Louie, 86 of Marlborough passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Marlborough Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bumpa was born in Clinton, MA, the son of the late Thomas F. and Mary (Coady) Brecken Sr. and he was predeceased by his sister Teresa Brecken
Duct Tape Louie worked as the Head Mechanic for the Marlborough Department of Public Works for over 35 years. He also served in the Massachusetts National Guard for over 8 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sheila (Sargent) Brecken of Marlborough, 3 sons, Michael Brecken and his wife Nancy of Hudson, Tim Brecken and his wife Lisa, Shawn Brecken and his partner Sue Carr all of Marlborough, 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Lauren, Katie, Nicholas, Kevin, Justine, Jillian, 5 great grandchildren, Carter, Gwen, Shea, Manny and Benjamin as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family and friends.
Tom was very supportive of his sons while they played sports. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great children playing sports. He took great pride in caring for his lawn. He was quick to play a practical joke when he had the chance.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Reservoir Center for Health & Rehabilitation and Marlborough Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10 am in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough, MA
