Tabatha Scribner Obituary

Tabatha Ann Scribner 47 of Rutland, MA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 in UMass Medical Center, Worcester, MA.

Tabatha was born in Framingham, the daughter of Daryl J. and Rhonda D. (Dennis) DiMatteo. She graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, Class of ’96, and earned her Associate’s Degree from Becker College in Worcester, Class of ‘98.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Michael “Mike” L. Scribner of Rutland, her two daughters, Rebecca Scribner of VT, Sarah Scribner of Worcester, her parents, Daryl and Rhonda DiMatteo of Rutland, her brother, Justin DiMatteo and his wife Hannah Shayler of NY, her sister, Krystal Chalifoux and her fiancé Lee Beaudoin of Worcester, her mother-in-law, Joanie Scribner, and father-in-law, Kenny Scribner (departed), as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family and friends.

Rebecca and Sarah will always remember Mommy as strong, compassionate, patient, and understanding. Her girls were always her highest priority. She loved spending time with her family, whether it be on vacation or at a Woo Sox game. Taba enjoyed gardening, cooking, and crocheting, especially making gifts for her family and loved ones.

Tab, Mike, Becca, and Sarah would go on many adventures together treasure hunting, letterboxing, and exploring beaches, ponds, and waterfalls because of her love for the water. The four of them also enjoyed routine game nights with Rhonda and Daryl and other friends and family. World of Warcraft was an integral part of their family life at home. Tab and Mike enjoyed dancing, especially country dancing, which ultimately brought them together.

Visitation for Tabatha will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 4-7 pm in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough, MA.

A Celebration of Tab’s life will be held later this Spring.

Although Tabatha loved flowers, they made her sneeze. In lieu of flowers, please consider a plant, or make a donation to the Shine Initiative of Worcester (shineinitiative.org/donate), an organization working to support the mental health of youth and young adults, a cause near and dear to her heart.
