Rita (Gagas) Wright

Marlborough – Rita (Gagas) Wright, 100 of Marlborough, died on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home, Holyoke, MA.

She was born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late Achille and Theodora (Mourllis) Gagas.

Rita was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Robert R. Wright in 1954.

She served in the U.S. Navy as a nurse in WWII and then at Marlborough Hospital for many years.

Rita is survived by her 2 sons, Robert Wright and his wife, Mary-Lynn of MD, John Wright of Marlborough, 2 grandchildren, Emily and Ellen; 4 great grandchildren, Mathew, Morgan, Ethan and Norah.

Rita was also predeceased by a daughter, Christine Wright 1n 1999; 2 brothers, John Gagas, William Gagas and a sister, Sophie Hennan.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 11 a.m. in Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 9 Central St., Marlborough, MA. Burial will follow with Military Honors in the family lot in Maplewood Cemetery, Marlborough.

A Visitation hour will be held prior to the Mass from 10-11 a.m. also at the Church.
