Patrick "Paddy" Beatrice Obituary

Patrick “Paddy” A. Beatrice, 79, of Framingham died peacefully after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.

Paddy was born in Revere, MA, the son of the late Pasquale and Assunta (Bruno) Beatrice. He was raised in Lynn and Roslindale and never passed up an opportunity to share stories about his family when he was a boy. He graduated from Roslindale High School, Class of 1961 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Northeastern University in 1976.

He was a workaholic by choice, spending most of his career in cleanroom sales and service for companies such as Camfil, Perini and Farr until his retirement from Filter Sales and Service in 2021.

Early in his career and during the first years of cutting age technology he was employed at both Digital and MIT where he and his coworkers enjoyed launching forward thinking projects and playing genius level pranks on each other. He often told stories about the many jobs he held while growing up and although not always glamourous, they painted the picture of his ambition and dedication to hard work. Most importantly, however, throughout his career he made many lifelong connections with those he considered not only colleagues, but friends.

Although he was small in stature, he was lightning fast and became an avid and accomplished athlete in many sports such as basketball, baseball, and football. He was a coach for the Metrowest soccer league during the 1980s and was also a player in the Framingham baseball league as well.

After meeting the love of his life in 1966 and getting married two years later, the pair started a new chapter in their book of life and moved out of the city to the suburbs of Framingham. Pat spent many summer days with his wife and children on Prudence Island in Rhode Island, where he became a skilled fisherman and could be found on sunny afternoons hand trawling for quahogs, casting for fish out of the old rowboat and digging up clams on the beaches on the island. It was on these sands that he found his happy place; a rustic, outdoor sanctuary which afforded an understated, simple way of life where the days ended with a beach bonfire overlooking the Mount Hope bridge. He loved being a husband and a father, and absolutely adored his two grandchildren and the time he was able to spend with them.

For those who knew him, he will always be remembered as having a big personality with a bigger laugh and an even bigger smile. Though he will be forever missed, his story will continue through family and friends sharing memories of him.

Paddy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joanne F. (Olson) Beatrice of Framingham, his daughter, Erika Sherman and her husband Matt of Marshfield, 2 grandchildren, Jackson and Abigail, his brother Peter Beatrice and his wife Patti of Raynham, his daughter-in-law Valerie Beatrice of East Providence, Rhode Island and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his son Christopher Beatrice in 2019 and his brother Martin Beatrice.
