Mary L. Lambert, 87, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, in December, 2025. Born on February 28, 1938, she was the daughter of Joan and Dexter Davis, and the wife of John P. Lambert, with whom she shared 55 years.
A Holliston High School graduate, she graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1959 where she majored in Spanish, after which she taught Spanish at Wahconah Regional High School in Dalton, MA, did ESL tutoring in the Marlborough public schools, and taught Spanish at Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough.
She is survived by her beloved and devoted daughter, Jenny Lambert of Carmel, NY and her loving children, Jack and Max Roberts, and her beloved and devoted sister, Ruth J. Dean of Southborough, and her loving niece and nephew, Sandra and Kenneth Dean. She is also survived by her dear sisters and brothers-in-law Joan and Carl Lambert of Savoy, MA and Ruth and Dennis Zicko of Duxbury, MA and many dear, close friends.
A member of Golden Tones for 20 years, Mary loved singing for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She was a member of First Church Congregational in Marlborough where she taught Sunday School, and helped prepare meals for Our Father’s Table. She loved spending time with her family and friends, working in her flower gardens, cooking, playing the piano, being at Nauset Beach and hiking and riding her bicycle on trails at Cape Cod. She felt surrounded by love from the people in her life.
The family is deeply grateful to the caring and compassionate staff of VNA Hospice, who took such good care of her, and to Compassionate Care ALS for their contributions, which were so helpful.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16, at Noon, at First Church Congregational, 37 High Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Mary’s memory may be sent to Golden Tones, Inc., 7 Erie Drive, Natick, MA 01760 (www.goldentones.org) or to WGBH (https://wgbh.org)
