Leslie Hixson Obituary

Leslie “Sue” Hixson, 92, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at her residence at New Horizon’s in Marlborough, MA after a period of declining health. Sue was born February 27, 1933, in Brighton, MA, the daughter of James and Mildred Frame and spent her childhood living in Arlington, MA. Sue was predeceased by her beloved husband Fletcher “Gene” Hixson in July of 2003.

As a young woman, Sue met her husband to be, Gene, an enlistee in the US Navy at the time, at a USO dance in Chelsea, MA. Gene was transferred to Pensacola, Florida shortly after they met and he proposed to her via mail and anxiously awaited her reply. She accepted his proposal, and he returned to Boston for the wedding. After his discharge from the Navy, they returned to Massachusetts where Gene attended and graduated from UMass Amherst.

In 1960, Sue and Gene moved to Marlborough, MA, where they raised their three children, Steven, Nancy, and David. Sue worked as a secretary and bookkeeper through the years, but most of her time was spent raising her children.  Sue and Gene quickly became friendly with a number of old town Marlboro families and spent many nights playing bridge with their friends. Sue was an accomplished bridge player and won many tournaments and trophies. In 1972 the family moved to the lake Fort Meadow in Marlboro and hosted friends and families with countless hours spent boating and waterskiing on the lake.  In her later years Sue and Gene travelled, cruised and spent winters in Florida. Sue adored the many dogs and cats she had over the years.  She was also an avid Crossword puzzle player.

Sue is survived by her son Steven and his wife Pamela of Southborough, Nancy and her husband Steven of Laguna Woods, California, and David and his wife Patti of Chelmsford, her granddaughters Victoria Hixson of Hudson, Kortney Hixson of Framingham, Kimberly Hixson Floyd and her husband Matt of San Diego, CA and Amanda Hixson McCormack and her husband Mike of Northbridge, MA, as well as her beloved great-granddaughter, Charlie of San Diego.

Funeral services will be privately held at a later date.
