Karen Ann Hogan, 62 of Shrewsbury passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of Albert White and Irene F. (DeLucia) Cook. She was raised in Framingham and graduated early from Framingham North High School, Class of ’80. She worked as a Hairdresser for many years before getting married and raising 3 children.
Later in life she found a calling as a caretaker and home health care aid.
Karen is survived by her 2 sons, John A. DeGiacomo and his wife Gina, and Ryan M. DeGiacomo and his wife Brittany, all residing in Marlborough, her mother Irene Cook and her husband Michael Cook of Hopkinton, her sister, Shirley Kasanovich and her husband Stephen of NH, her 6 grandchildren, Nicholas, Charlie, Rori, RJ, Logan and Luke, her Uncles, Everett Roe, Donald White, Uncle & Godfather, John (Jackie) White, her 2 nieces, Heather and Sarah, and a nephew Stephen, as well as her life-long best friend Barbara Stabile along with many more extended family and friends.
Karen loved doing yoga and taking her dog Lola for walks. She was passionate about rescuing dogs and a lover of all animals. She was capable and very talented in all her passions. An amazing interior decorator, her home left anyone that was lucky enough to see it in awe. A lover of all plants, daisies were her favorite flower, she had a green thumb whether it was in her gorgeous garden or the many houseplants which adorned her meticulously kept home. Karen was a lover of antiques and was often found in antique stores, flea markets or picking up a discarded item off the side of the road and turning it into a charming piece for a corner of her home. Although she had many hobbies and passions, what she loved the most was spending time with her family and friends, holding her grandbabies or catching one of her grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering them on.
Karen was a loving and compassionate person and is going to be deeply missed. She was predeceased by her son, Nicholas Carl DeGiacomo in 1996, her father Albert White and her Aunt Mary Ellen (White) Roe.
