John J. O’Malley, 80, of Marlborough, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Coleman House in Northborough.
John was born in Boston, MA, the son of the late Charles and Mary G. (King) O’Malley. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Susan A. (Brigham) O’Malley in January 2024.
John graduated from Marian High School, Class of 1963. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1966-1969 as a Sargent within the Civil Engineering Squadron.
He worked for New England Electric System for 35 years for both New England Power Company and Massachusetts Electric in substation maintenance. He was a dedicated employee, always sharing his expertise with the younger generation and was affectionately nicknamed "Papa Johnny O." John was an avid Boston sports fan, a hockey player into his late 40's and a Marlborough Youth Soccer coach for more than two decades. He was a teacher at heart.
John is survived by his daughter Nancy Brusco and her husband Paul of Marlborough, his son, JJ O’Malley and his wife Tammy of NC, 4 grandchildren, Lindsay and her husband John, Trevor, Morgan and Nate, 2 great great granddaughters, Olivia and Emilia, a brother Michael F. O’Malley and his wife Nancy of Hudson and 3 nephews.
