James Edward Burt, 81, of Marlborough, died on March 14, 2025 after a long battle with End Stage Renal Failure.
James was born in Brent, Alabama, the son of the late William and Bessie (Burnette) Burt.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte (Kulevich) Burt in 2021.
They met while both were serving in the United States Air Force and were married in 1966. Both James and Charlotte were avid travelers early in their marriage and throughout their lives together.
After serving our country, James moved to Marlborough permanently to be close to his wife’s family. He started his career as an RCA telecommunications engineer where he met a lot of his closest friends till this day.
In 2000, he started working for Kens Foods Inc. in Marlborough as an IT and Telecommunications manager where he worked until his retirement in 2015. He loved working with the company and kept in touch with many of his co-workers.
Once in retirement, James spent most of his time caring for his wife Charlotte who battled courageously with renal failure for 11 years until her passing in 2021. He never left her side. He truly was a great man.
James is survived by his only son, William “Bill” Burt of Marlborough, 2 sisters, Kathryn Caffee, Robbie Nixon and her husband Steven all of AL, 2 sisters-in-laws, Anne Wynne and her husband Matthew and Paula Kulevich and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by 8 siblings.
He was able to take a road trip one last time in 2024 to visit his childhood home and family which he cherished for the rest of his life. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed watching his son play sports, Boy Scouting and many other activities.
James was a member of the Masons and served as a Worshipful Master.
