Frederick D. Cooke of Marlborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in UMass Memorial Hospital, University Campus, in Worcester, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Frederick A. and Marion (Wadman) Cooke.
After graduating from Dorchester High School for Boys, Frederick served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Occupation WW2 and later was recalled for service during the Korean Conflict.
In 1950, Frederick married Elizabeth B. Piggott, and together they shared 75 years of marriage before her passing on November 23, 2025.
Frederick earned his degree from Wentworth Institute in 1950, majoring in Pattern Making and Machine Design and went on to a successful career working for F.W. Dixon where he was involved in pattern making and as Supervisor, he later worked at Everett Pattern & Manufacturing, Inc. as Sales Manager. He was well respected amongst his peers.
Frederick is survived by his four children: William Cooke and his wife Peggy of Warwick, Rhode Island; Lawrence Cooke and his wife Margie of St. Maries, Idaho; Laura Bennett and her husband Peter of Marlborough; and Linda Wheeler of Hudson. He also survived by his ten grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was predeceased by both his parents, and his 2 sisters, Isabel Rum and Beverly Hall.
Frederick was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Marlborough, member of the Masons and Shriners.
He cherished time spent with his family. Frederick was beloved and adored by his wife. He was the best father ever, greatest role model. His devotion to his family was his number one priority. Always there encouraging us with any school projects, sports involvements, and guiding us with important life’s lessons which we continue with the younger generations that follow.
