Marlborough, MA – Dean Michael Sutherland, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Boston, Dean was the cherished son of the late Alexander (Joe) and Hazel F. (Rabeaux) Sutherland. A proud Brookline native, Dean’s life was shaped by his deep love for his family, his passion for learning, and his boundless sense of humor.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Terry (Turgeon) Sutherland, and their two children: Nicole Kasper and her husband Steven of Holliston, along with their children Jack and Olivia; and Nolan Sutherland and his wife Tatiana of Hingham, with their children Sloane and Heath.
Dean will be deeply missed by his siblings, Alexander Sutherland of Florida, Janet Michelin and her husband Rich of Nevada, and Michelle Daley and her husband James of Framingham, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews: Jonathan, Patrick, Rich, Gabrielle, and Beaux. As well as his loving sisters in law Julie Turgeon and Geralyn Drumheller and her partner Steve Ginsburg.
Dean’s academic achievements included graduating from Boston State College and earning a master’s degree from Boston University. He built a life defined by kindness, wit, and a passion for life’s simple joys. Whether he was at the family’s cherished lake house in Maine, perfecting his cooking, enjoying a round of golf, or immersing himself in music, Dean brought his larger-than-life personality and infectious humor to every moment.
Dean’s memory will live on in the laughter, love, and countless memories shared by those who knew him.
