Claire Rose (Beauchamp) Finlay, 91, longtime resident of Marlborough, MA, passed away on September 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Claire was born to Adolph and Margaret (Fuller) Beauchamp in the tight-knit community of Woburn, MA, called Button End. She was the youngest of nine. Through her devoted hard-working mother, and a house full of siblings, she learned invaluable life skills and lessons that carried with her throughout her life.
She met her beloved husband Walter J. Finlay on the commuter train in Boston where she worked as a secretary. They were married in 1956 and raised four children together in Marlborough MA during their happy thirty-nine years of marriage, until his passing in 1995.
Claire loved gardening, painting, and especially baking. Her recipes will live on in her children's and grandchildren's lives. Claire loved DIY projects and never shied away from hard work. A New Englander through and through. Above all else, she loved being a mother and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her.
Claire is survived by her daughter Linda Finlay of Marlborough, son Brian Finlay of Florida, daughter Trish Finlay of Lancaster, her son Paul Finlay, and his wife Danielle.
Claire was proud of her 8 grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Louis), Keith (Lisa), Lindsey, Shanna (Sean), Tiffany, Jon-Scott, David, and Allison (Greg), 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter, as well as 8 brothers and sisters.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11 am in St. Mathias Church, Hemenway St., Marlborough, MA Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St.
Calling hours will be held prior to her Funeral Mass from 9-10:30 am in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough. MA
