Ann Louise Swanson Obituary

AnnLouise Birgitta Swanson passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday morning March 28, 2025, at New Horizons in Marlborough, Ma.

She was born October 27, 1934, in Varberg, Sweden to the late Frederick W. Mortenson and Aina (Nyberg) Mortenson.  She graduated from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and went on to work at Hartford Hospital as a nurse in the OBGYN department. She stayed in touch with her nursing friends all of her life.

AnnLouise was married to Kenneth W. Swanson for 58 years. They raised three children together and later traveled extensively until Ken passed away in January of 2014. Ken was always the life of every party, while Ann Louise enjoyed listening and laughing, always displaying that sweet smile that she was known for.

In her last years a medical condition rendered her unable to speak, and her family fondly joked that now that Ann Louise was in Heaven and could speak again, she will still choose to sit quietly and listen and laugh as she often did. She was much loved and will be very missed.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa A. Delano and her husband Joseph of Marlborough, MA, and grandchildren Maria Vigeant and her husband Andrew, (great grandchildren Mya and Noah) Victoria Scarpato and her husband Rob (great grandson Nicola), Christina Delano and her fiancé Haley Christie, Her son Kenneth W. Swanson, Jr. of Newington, CT, grandson Shane Swanson and his fiancée Alana Karpovich, and granddaughter Molly Swanson. Her daughter Linnea M. Fields and her husband Jimmy of Lakewood, CA, grandson Eric Fields and his wife Elyssa (great grandson Easton), Matthew Fields and his fiancée Kylie Yañez, and Birgitta Fields and her fiancé Thomas Pridy.

AnnLouise’s great grandchildren had the gift of knowing their Great Mormor and always brought a smile to her face.

She leaves behind her sister Doris M. Sisley of CO and many loving nieces and nephews.

AnnLouise’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to NR Homecare and Nourrir Homecare, whose teams helped AnnLouise’s family care for her through the end of her life. These caregivers went above and beyond treating AnnLouise with sincere kindness, compassion, and respect.

The family will be holding a private celebration of life to turn the sorrow of parting into the joy of her first heavenly birthday and to honor her life and legacy.
